How to get there?

The Jamboree site is situated in the southern part of Sweden in the region of Skåne, just outside the city of Kristianstad, which is also the name of the municipality. The nearest village is called Rinkaby.

When visiting the Jamboree you have to go to the Check in Centre, just south of the camp site. The Check in Centre is accessible by public transportation or by car. There are parking facilities.

Note: The Jamboree open 10.00 and close 18.00 for Day Visitors and you can only check in until 16.00, after that will the check in close.

Travelling in Skåne and Sweden

It is easy to get around Skåne and Sweden, as there are extensive rail links and bus lines – both local, regional and national are all readily reached (see travel planner in link list below).

Getting to the Jamboree from abroad

The nearest international airport is actually situated in Denmark’s capital Copenhagen, from where trains will take you to Malmö in Sweden in 20 minutes and to Kristianstad in less then 2 ½ hours. From Copenhagen Central or Kastrup Airport, buy a ticket to Kristianstad Central in Skånetrafiken’s ticket machines. Your ticket will be valid all the way to Rinkaby (see more information about the Jamboree bus below).

How to drive to the Jamboree

To avoid traffic jams there will be traffic regulations and recommended routes to the Jamboree. If you arrive from Denmark via the bridge follow route E22 towards Kalmar. After passing Kristianstad, follow the signposts to the Jamboree. Please note that the recommended route might not be the route a GPS will give you. If you arrive from Ystad, Trelleborg, etc., find your way to route E22 and follow the same directions as described above. Vehicles transporting goods to the Jamboree will be directed another route to the site. There will be signpost indicating the route.

Note: Gälltoftavägen between Rinkaby village and the Jamboree car park is closed for all traffic between July 25 and August 8. All vehilces must come from E22.

Go to the Jamboree by train and bus

There are three ways to get to the Jamboree from Kristianstad. The easiest way is to take Skånetrafiken’s Jamboree bus from Kristianstad Central Station, which takes you directly to the Check in Centre. It is also possible to take Skånetrafiken’s bus 551 or a railcar, that is only in operation during the Jamboree.

Jamboree bus and bus 551
If you are travelling from a train station in Skåne or a neighbouring county, choose “Rinkaby” in Skånetrafiken’s ticketmachines. Your ticket will be valid all the way to Rinkaby.

During the camp will a special Jamboree bus, operated by Skånetrafiken, run between Kristianstad Central Station and the Check in Centre. The bus leaves from Kristianstad Central every hour between 08.35 and 17.35 and from the Check in Centre every hour between 09.00 and 18.00. The journey takes 20 minutes.

It is also possible to take the regular bus 551 (time table) from Kristianstad or Åhus and get off in Rinkaby and then walk about 2 000 meters (6 600 feet) to the Check in Centre. There are two bus stops in Rinkaby (called Torvvägen and Skjutfältsvägen) and there will be signs from both of them to the Check in Centre.

Skånetrafiken’s buses are adapted to wheelchairs up to a width of 680 milimeter.

Note: Please be aware that you cannot pay with cash on buses and trains in Skåne. The easiest way to pay is with Skånetrafiken’s “Jojo card” or with creditcard in ticket machines or onboard the yellow regional buses. Please see Skånetrafiken for more information.

Railcar
During the Jamboree will Museiföreningen Östra Skånes Järnvägar (the Museum Association Eastern Skåne Railways) operate an old railcar from the 50ths. It departs from Kristianstad södra (southern station), a former trainstation now used as a museum, and stops in Eknabben and Rinkaby before arriving in Åhus.  It is about 1 500 meters (4 900 feet) to walk from the Rinkaby Railcar station to the Check in Centre.

The rail bus is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. Tickets are purchased onboard.

Preliminary time table:

Kristianstad södra Eknabben Rinkaby Åhus
