Event Card

After the Jamboree

If you have used a credit or debit card to load the Event Card the remaining balance on the Event Card will be put back on the credit/debit card that was used to load the Event Card. If you have used more than one credit card to load the Event Card the money will be put back in the reverse order it was paid to the Event Card. We aim to make the repayments within a month after the Jamboree.

If you have used cash to load your Event Card it will not be possible to get your money back. Please also note that you cannot use the Event Card to withdraw cash.

What is an Event Card and why use it?

We are aiming to keep the amount of cash to a minimum at the Jamboree. To limit the use of cash, the sales points will have many lines open for card payments but only a few lines open for cash payments. To facilitate this, the ID-card that everyone in the Contingents and in the Planning Team will receive when checking in will also have a cash card function – the Event Card. The card can be loaded with money and used when paying in all the cafés, shops etc. on the Jamboree site.

Note: both the Event Card and credit and debit cards are accepted at all selling points on the Jamboree.

How to load the Event Card with money?

The easiest way to load the Event Card with money is to use this Internet service before, or during, the Jamboree. You only need a credit or card to transfer the money from. There is no transaction fee, which means that you can choose to do several transfers without any additional costs.

- Update regarding security -

We have understood that some of you are concerned because there is no PIN code connected to the Event Card.

The main idea with the Event Card is to minimize the risks that come with handling cash, such as losses and theft. These risks apply to the participants and IST as well as to the staff that handle cash in shops and cafés.

From the participants view we consider that the risks of having an Event Card are less than if using cash. Please note that the Event Card is meant to be an alternative to cash and not an alternative to other credit and debit cards. Visa, Visa Electron, MasterCard, Maestro, JCB and American Express are accepted in all selling points at the Jamboree.

As the Event Card must be worn at all times as Camp ID a loss of the card is unlikely to go unnoticed for long. In case of loss the card can be blocked and any remaining balance will be transferred to a new card.

If you are worried that the card can be lost and misused we suggest that you load the card several times with limited amounts throughout the Jamboree. As a parent you can check the balance of your scout’s card via internet and reload when needed.
