Today 29 000 participants will have arrived at the Jamboree camp site.
Before they get here, every one of them has to cross the first check in point, located 5km away from the camp. We were there to talk with some of the IST and participants.
In the morning, everything ran smoothly. When participants arrived at this point, the Unit Leader was immediately accompanied by a IST to the check in desk. There, they collected extra information and essential documents. Here, the friendliness and readiness of our volunteers made this process easy, simple and a great success. Whilst this happened, the unit doesn’t even leave the bus. Everything here was efficient, and there were almost no queues!
Hej Jam!, the Jamboree Magazine, was able to talk with some of the IST. They proudly reported that everything was going really well, and they were happy to be able to work somewhere where everything was working properly.
After the check in point, the unit arrive at the camp site where they were welcomed by an IST patrol. One of the patrol leads the unit to the right Town: Summer, Autumn or Winter.
At the Town information centre, the units were given their camp location, and information about camp life and activities. They were finally ready to enjoy the 22nd World Scout Jamboree 2011. Welcome!

Troop 70302 is on it’s way. Our Troop left from San Francisco this morning and just landed in Washington DC to pick up more Scout Troops. We’ll be taking off again shortly to cross the pond. We can hardly wait to get there….
