Jamboree Forum is one of the activities during the Jamboree, where young people can discuss different issues in a friendly environment and learn from each other. The web team visited one of the forums.
The topic was “Militarism and scouting: Is our uniform militaristic?”. Mr Lloyd Russell-Moyle, who is a board member of the European Youth Forum , was the key note speaker. He is member of a youth movement that split off from scouts in the 1920´s and they do not have uniforms. After delivering a short and for scouts provocative speech, the participants discussed the topic in small groups using different methods. The review at the end of the session indicated that there was much agreement amongst the participants for keeping the uniform (of course
and not too much tension.
Next session takes place on July 31st in the Head of Contingents Tent from 15:30 to 17:45. The topic will be: Globalization: Is a fair trade uniform fair? Come along and share your views on this important topic. The key note speaker will be the Shop Commissioner of the Flemish Scouts and Guides.

why not?
I think the uniform is part of us. It is something that people identify us when they see Scouts on the street,
or maybe on camping, etc. Scouts should be proud of wearing the uniform. The color or the design of it is another point. With or without uniform one should proud of being a Scout. It is something that one must be convinced.
Anyway, enjoy this beautiful JAMBOREE
