Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

The 22nd World Scout Jamboree will be the first, but hopefully not the last, eco-awarded Jamboree. This means that the Jamboree as an event, and its work towards a sustainable environment, keeps a high standard.

With simple procedures and climate smart choices we can make the Jamboree a sustainable event. The criteria for receiving the award Keep Sweden Tidy is that the event is planned and implemented with sustainability awareness concerning products and services, waste and littering, heat and electricity, transport, water usage, and health and indoor environment. For example, all bananas, coffee and cocoa will be eco-labeled, and all latrine content from the camp will become fuel for vehicles.

Recycle for a green Jamboree
We are all responsible to keep the promises towards the award, here are some ideas on what can you do to contribute:

  • Reduce environmental impact by planning your travel to and from the Jamboree site.
  • Reduce food waste by planning your meals.
  • Refill your water bottle instead of buying new ones. The tap water in Sweden is safe to drink.
  • Recycle all waste such as cans, bottles and packages. There will be recycling stations throughout the campsite.

The slogan “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” guides the planning of the Jamboree. It encompasses three simple steps that minimizes the Jamboree’s environmental footprint and enables us to act environmentally friendly throughout the Jamboree.
