Just at the centre of the Jamboree, there is a wooden Main Tower, about 30 meters high. Here you go up and get an overview of the whole Jamboree. Håkan Abrahamsson, one of the responsible engineers, tells us how last week construction started, with a little help of a 100 ton tower crane.
The metal staircase is the only part built by a professional Swedish company, everything else was done by Scouting volunteers. After the World Scout Jamboree they will take it down again.
Rasmus Ege Olesen, another engineer, says the tower, which is the highest wooden structure of the jamboree site, is built in three sections, craned in from the field next to it.
The flag on top, which is never taken down, is lit by twelve spots all night.
On top of the tower there are also two webcams. Have a look at them!
For the real experience though the tower is open to all participants (as long as wind speed is below 40 km/h) from 10:00 till 22:00.
