Arena Events

During the Jamboree there will be three major events where all the participants will gather in front of the main stage – an opening ceremony, a mid event, when we welcome the host groups of the Camp in Camp to the Jamboree site, and a closing ceremony. The events will be inspired by the three key concepts Meetings, Nature and Solidarity, and named thereafter.

Meetings, the opening Ceremony (28th July)
Like so many times before, a war breaks out between Sweden and Denmark, this time in the form of a dance battle. The sailing vessel ”Ostindiefararen” sails from Sweden to China and back again – only to sink a hundred feet from the harbour. The Bernadotte dynasty becomes royal. Sweden’s history lives up again in front of 38,000 scouts through music, dance and animations during the Jamboree opening ceremony. In addition to the historical review, all the participating countries’ flags are shown in a big flag parade. And when the sound of Abba fades away, there will be speeches from the camp management, Göran Hägerdal and Marie Reinecke, and from representatives for WOSM, World Organization of the Scout Movement, Simon Rhee and Luc Panissod.

Be sure to bring your best dances moves as you and 38 000 others Scouts will dance the Jamboree Dance together.

Nature, the Mid Event (4 August)
The future hit ”The Polar Bear Song”, which is about what animals exists – and do not exist – in Sweden, has its world premiere on the 4th of August, when the camp’s middle ceremony Nature takes place. There will also be artists, reports from Camp in Camp, and a performance in Nature stomp – dancing to the sounds of nature. This event marks the finale of the Culture Festival Day when we welcome the host groups of the Camp in Camp to the Jamboree site.

Solidarity, the Closing Ceremony (6 August)
”Changing the world” is the title of the World Scout Jamboree camp song. During the Jamboree week the participants have been thinking about how humanity can improve the world. On the 6th of August, during the Jamboree closing ceremony, the suggestions from the participants on how the world can be improved are mixed with performances from artists and a speech by the Swedish king, among others. The ceremony, and the twenty second World Scout Jamboree, ends with fantastic musical fireworks and the flag hand over to Japan, host to the 23rd World Scout Jamboree.
